Modules

What software modules do I need for my laboratory

Laboratory LIS (DisaLab)

The DisaLab LIS is the basic laboratory module. Versions are available for PointOfCare, Xpress, standard and multi-site installations.  Disalab uses role-based access for test requisitions, workflow and workload management, worksheets, result entry and review.  QC is available with multiple Westgard rules.  Samples can be assigned to storage areas and managed and tracked using barcodes. TAT time-alerts and full audit trails are available for all activities and all stages of the testing process. Laboratory reports can be distributed on paper, electronically as PDF, XML or text,  or by fax, e-mail or SMS.  DisaLab is completely multidisciplinary allowing testing of any combinations of Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology (Bacteriology), Cytology, Histology (Anatomical and Cellular Pathology), Virology, Serology, Immunology, Toxicology, TB, Environmental/Public health, Clinical Trials and EQA specimens. Management reports and data extractions are available in spreadsheet (XLSX) format for Excel and OpenOffice. All versions comply fully with ISO15189 and include support for ICD10, LOINC and other international clinical laboratory standards.

PointOfCare and Xpress: These version come with an MS-SQL database containing all the test setups needed. Your point of care site or lab doesn't need extensive training on how to set up the system and can be up and running in a matter of days.  The pre-configured test setups use international (SI) units of measure and age and sex specific normal ranges. Ranges use values from widely accepted authorities such as Dacey&Lewis and Teits.  As part of the annual license fee, we continue to update your labs configurations as the repertoire of tests changes and grows. All that your lab needs to do itself is to add its lists of the facilities serviced, the doctors that request tests, the medical funders,  and the people authorised to work in the lab.

Standard laboratory: This version is for labs who have in-house IT experts.  You can use the extensive configuration tools to customise your lab to meet your own specific requirements .  You control your own test methods and orders, design custom worksheets and set up batch registration screens layouts.  You can also write sophisticated rules to automate well defined tasks and actions, such as reflex testing and expert system commenting.  Rules fire automatically on test requests, result entry and result reviewing. System configuration settings allow the style of the screen layouts and reports to be tailored for different types of labs, such as Clinical, Pathology, EQA, TB, Environmental-health, Veterinary and Clinical Trails.  The type of reports sent can be selected per doctor or facility. For example a doctor may want hardcopy to his office, e-mails to his practice, and panic alerts or histology summaries to his smartphone via SMS.

Multi-site (Enterprise): This version allows, in addition to the standard DisaLab features, for your lab to perform electronic referrals between your sites.  It also allows integration with a data repository which acts as both a centralised site for data mining, billing and web results (WWDisa) as well as a disaster recovery site.  The central data repository provides for centralised management of enterprise wide setup tables, epidemiological surveillance, research and management and statistical reports.

Instrument-Interfaces (DisaInterface)

This optional module provides interfaces to analysers and other lab automation equipment/robotics. Standard bi-directional interfaces are available for instruments and robotics from all major suppliers including Roche, Siemens, Beckman-Coulter, Sysmex, Bayer, Abbott, BD, Bio Merieux, DadeBehring and many others. We provide example setups for all standard analysers.  Custom interfaces can be developed on request. Suppliers can contract us directly to develop interfaces to their products, which are then available for free to all our customers.  Included with this module are Quality Control and Levy Jennings charts with multiple Westgard rules. On-site implementation and sign-off is required for all new interfaces.

Web results (WWDISA)

This optional module provides a web portal for patient results which allows searching and secure access over the internet. Hospitals can use WWDisa on a local intranet to view reports for wards and clinics.

Clinic/Depot link to laboratories (DisaLink)

This module allows facilities who see patients, to pre-register details and test requests and to create barcode labels for tubes, containers and request forms.  Information is transferred electronically to DisaLab laboratories and when the samples arrive at the laboratory, the labels are scanned to confirm arrival and autoregisters the sample.  The DisaLink facility can track the progress of their specimens through the laboratory. When results become available they are returned electronically to the DisaLink facility where they can be viewed or printed.  Since the information is stored in their local database, the facility can search and access results when the patient returns. without referring back to the testing laboratory.  This allows a longitudinal patient record to be constructed locally.  The facility can also act as a "regional hub" to collect samples and distribute reports.   DisaLink is available FREE to any facility referring work to a laboratory running the standard version of Disalab.

HL7 interface (DisaHL7)

This optional module allows DisaLab to interface to Electronic Health Records (EHR) and hospital and other healthcare systems.  With the HL7 interface your laboratory can receive patient demographics and test orders electronically, and send back test results (observations). On-site implementation is required as part of the sign-off process for all new HL7 interfaces.

Billing and Accounts Receivable (DisaBar)

This optional module is available for commercial laboratories running standard and enterprise editions .  Billing is automatically derived from tests performed. This module provides full support for accounts receivable including automated reminders and user defined actions. On-site user training is required to implement this module.

Consumable Stock/Inventory Management (DisaStock)

This optional module is available to all labs wishing to manage their consumables.  It provides batch/lot and expiry date control - which is a critical requirement for reagents and similar stock items. Included are functions for shift usage, stock-receiving, stock-transfers, stock-ordering and stock-take.

Centralise Data Repository (CDR)

This optional module is available to all labs wishing to run the Web-Based results portal(WWDISA), or a centralised Billing (DisaBAR), or centralised HL7 interfaces (DisaHL7).
